My painting practise is the space I give to the outpouring of unplanned motions, a place for all that I input to come out in the most unfiltered way possible. Some paintings may start with an initial thought but often come out different to how I could have imagined.
Painting from home in Aotearoa has it’s influence on the colours and shapes that come as well as the words that sit alongside these works. All approached in a stream of consciousness way.

It is my way of drawing my eye to the present. Noticing what is around me and making a mini monument to the every day.
Most of the time I take a walk around my garden and see what is drawing my attention, or what is ready to harvest. Dill stalks, dried puka leaves fallen to the ground, a delicate poppy petal, juicy tomatoes.
Mother nature is endlessly inspiring.
Prints are available as one of one prints. As a representation of the ephermal moment they capture, one moment captured with a shutter before the plants fall and move and change.
Hand painted ceramics, backgrounds and fabric. Stacking and balancing. Making my own props and utlising the beautiful work of local makers.

Beauty, to me, is not decorative but vital: it lifts the everyday into something inspired, alive. Whether in the intimacy of a painted surface or the atmosphere of a styled space, I am drawn to creating environments that honour the small and the sacred, the fleeting and the enduring.
